Legislation to Prevent Recognition of Terrorist Governments

Mace has introduced legislation to Congress aimed at officially designating the Taliban as a foreign terrorist organization. This proposed law identifies the Taliban regime as a supporter of terrorism and explicitly prohibits U.S. federal agencies from recognizing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

The congresswoman stated that her legislation provides a clear and unambiguous directive, demonstrating that the Taliban will never be viewed as a legitimate government by the United States.

Previously, Nancy Mace had introduced this plan in December 2022, but it did not come to fruition. According to U.S. legislative rules, any bill or plan that does not receive final approval within a two-year congressional session is automatically dropped from the agenda.
