Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN Security Council, issued a warning regarding the use of safe havens by terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. During a Security Council meeting, he pointed out that the threats stemming from terrorism remain prevalent, particularly in Afghanistan.

Ongoing Activities of Terrorist Groups

The representative noted that, despite a decline in the capabilities of certain terrorist groups due to international efforts, their activities and threats persist in Afghanistan. He specifically highlighted groups like ISIS-Khorasan, which has experienced significant changes, as a serious threat to regional security.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad reiterated that combating terrorism requires extensive international cooperation and coordination. He urged the global community to undertake more effective measures to curb the operations of terrorist networks.
