Chinese Red Cross Provides $100,000 Aid for Afghan Earthquake Relief

The Afghan Red Crescent Society, operating under Taliban control, has announced that the Chinese Red Cross has provided $100,000 in aid for the earthquake victims in the provinces of Balkh and Samangan.

Cash Assistance Distribution in Kabul

The Afghan Red Crescent Society, whose activities are managed by the Taliban, reported that the Chinese Red Cross donated $100,000 to support those affected by the recent earthquake in provinces of Balkh and Samangan.

The organization stated on the platform X (formerly Twitter) that this cash assistance was handed over to the officials of the Red Crescent by Bao Zhouhui, the deputy ambassador of China in Kabul. This initiative highlights the ongoing humanitarian cooperation between Beijing and Afghanistan following the recent earthquake.

Damage and Casualties from the 6.3 Magnitude Earthquake

The 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan last Sunday evening, causing significant damage and loss. The majority of casualties and financial losses from this event were concentrated in the provinces of Samangan and Balkh.

According to credible reports, at least 27 people have lost their lives, and hundreds more have been injured due to this natural disaster. Furthermore, statistics indicate that more than 1,300 residential homes have been either fully or partially destroyed in these two provinces.

Inflow of International Aid

In the aftermath of this devastating earthquake, numerous countries worldwide have sent humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan to alleviate the suffering of the earthquake-affected population and aid in the reconstruction of damaged areas. The cash donation from the Chinese Red Cross is part of this broader global initiative to support the people of northern Afghanistan.
