The Afghan Red Crescent Society, whose activities are managed by the Taliban, announced that the Chinese Red Cross has provided one hundred thousand dollars to the victims of the recent earthquake in Balkh and Samangan provinces.
This agency wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that this cash aid was delivered to the officials of the Red Crescent by Bao Zhouhui, the Deputy Ambassador of China in Kabul. This action demonstrates the continuation of humanitarian cooperation between Beijing and Afghanistan following the recent earthquake.
The 6.3 magnitude earthquake severely shook northern Afghanistan on the evening of last Sunday, leaving extensive damage in its wake. The highest casualties and financial losses from this event were concentrated in the Samangan and Balkh provinces.
According to credible reports, at least 27 people have died, and hundreds more have been injured as a result of this natural disaster. Furthermore, statistics show that more than 1,300 residential houses in these two provinces have been completely or partially destroyed.
