World Food Program: nine million Afghans need urgent aid

David Beasley, executive director of the United Nations World Food Program, wrote on Twitter that millions of people in Afghanistan face poverty and hunger.

“If they don’t receive urgent funding in a few days, 9 million people in Afghanistan will be deprived of food aid,” Beasley said.

This is even though recently, the United Nations said that in 2023, more than 28 million people in Afghanistan needed to receive humanitarian aid.
