The World Food Organization (WFO) has reported that a significant number of Afghan children are attending school without having had a proper meal, just as World Education Day approaches.
According to the WFO, on January 24th, which coincides with World Education Day, the organization plans to distribute “nutritious biscuits” to approximately 700,000 male and female students in Afghanistan.
The WFO hopes that providing these biscuits to children will serve as an incentive for families to send their children to school.
In a concerning development, the Taliban has imposed a ban on girls above the sixth grade from attending school. Additionally, since taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban has struggled to fund educational institutions, resulting in most Afghan schools relying heavily on financial support from international organizations.
