The Taliban has alleged that the Pakistani military used American bombs in an attack on a civilian house in Kunar, resulting in three fatalities and four injuries.

The Taliban Claims Pakistani Military Used American Bombs in Kunar Attack

Saeed Khosti, head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture’s Jihad Documentation department, shared a photograph of bomb remnants and alleged that the Pakistani military attacked a civilian home in Kunar last night using a ‘GBU-12 Paveway II’ American bomb. He sharply criticized the Pakistani military, stating: “This mercenary army kills Muslims with American bombs, while Muslims had placed their hopes in them.”

Khosti also pointed out that this attack was a response to a recent incident involving the ‘Mujahideen Union’ group in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He questioned, “Why should the revenge for the attack on Kohat be taken on an innocent Muslim?”

Casualties from Pakistani Military Airstrikes

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban, reported that these airstrikes on civilian areas in Kunar and Paktika left three people dead and four wounded. While Pakistani officials have not officially responded to these claims, local media outlets citing security officials reported that 28 militants had been killed in the same airstrikes.

Ongoing Tensions between Kabul and Islamabad

These attacks come amid persistent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that from 1404 to Jawza 1405, 499 Afghan civilians lost their lives in clashes and attacks between the Taliban and the Pakistani military, with another 1,216 individuals wounded. Additionally, UNAMA noted that a military airstrike on the ‘Omid’ drug treatment center in Kabul on 25 Hoot 1404 resulted in 269 civilian deaths and 122 injuries, many of whom were patients at the center.
