In light of reports regarding airstrikes by the Pakistani military along the Afghan border, the Russian Embassy in Kabul has called on the involved parties to settle their differences through diplomatic negotiations. The statement underscored deep concern for civilian casualties and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

The embassy also wishes quick recovery for the injured and urges all parties to avoid military confrontations and escalating tensions.

Moscow’s Position on Kabul-Islamabad Relations

This stance from Russia aligns with its earlier warnings about the deteriorating relations between Kabul and Islamabad. Albert Khorov, the Russian Ambassador to Islamabad, has previously emphasized that terrorism is a common threat to regional stability and has expressed Russia’s willingness to enhance security and anti-terrorism cooperation with Kabul and Islamabad.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has also voiced concerns over military tensions, stressing the need to revive constructive dialogue between the two nations.

Airstrikes and Reactions

Russia’s call for de-escalation comes as the Pakistani military has continued its airstrikes early Thursday in parts of Kandahar, Khost, and Paktia provinces. These actions have led to strong protests from Kabul officials and raised regional concerns.
