Russia Urges Taliban and Pakistan to Seek Dialogue Amid Rising Tensions

The Russian Embassy in Kabul has urged the Taliban and Pakistan to resolve their disputes through dialogue and expressed concern over civilian casualties.

Russia Calls for Dialogue Between Taliban and Pakistan

Following reports of airstrikes by the Pakistani military along the Afghan border, the Russian Embassy in Kabul has called on the involved parties to resolve their differences through diplomatic negotiations. The statement conveyed profound concern over civilian casualties and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

The embassy also wished for a swift recovery for the injured and urged all parties to refrain from any military confrontations and to avoid escalating tensions.

Moscow’s Stance on Kabul-Islamabad Relations

This position from Russia aligns with previous warnings regarding the deteriorating relations between Kabul and Islamabad. Albert Khorov, the Russian ambassador to Islamabad, has previously emphasized that terrorism poses a shared threat to regional stability and that Russia is prepared to enhance security and counter-terrorism cooperation with both Kabul and Islamabad.

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has also voiced concerns about military tensions, underscoring the need to resume constructive talks between the two countries.

Airstrikes and Reactions

Russia’s call for de-escalation comes as the Pakistani military continued its airstrikes in parts of the provinces of Kandahar, Khost, and Paktia on Thursday morning. These actions have provoked strong protests from Kabul officials and raised regional concerns.
