Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced in the Senate that 80 percent of those involved in terrorist attacks in the country are Afghan nationals, linking this issue to the state of emergency declared in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In his recent statements in the Senate, Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, asserted that 80 percent of individuals involved in terrorist activities within Pakistan are Afghan citizens. He made this claim as part of the justification for the state of emergency recently declared in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Naqvi also criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party for its failure to establish comprehensive agreements against terrorism. He noted that despite accepting all proposals from the federal government, internal divisions within the party hindered any progress in negotiations.
After the establishment of the new ‘Governor’s Rule,’ Faisal Karim Kundi, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stated that decisions of the previous provincial government were being dictated from Afghanistan. He emphasized that the policies of the province would no longer be influenced by Kabul, Jalalabad, or Kandahar, but would henceforth be directed from Islamabad.
These statements and developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa indicate significant changes in Pakistan’s security policies. With the new government in place, it appears that Pakistan is focused on enhancing coordination and improving its security situation.
