Hamid Karzai 550x295 - Karzai: The United States forced the Taliban to continue the war

Ariana News Agency: Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has blamed the United States for instability, insecurity and war in Afghanistan.

“The Taliban are also the people of this country. When they were in power, I was against them because of the violation of the rights of the people and allowing foreign countries to infiltrate Afghanistan,” he said.
He added: “However, when my government and the republic came to power, I pardoned them and many of them went home and started living peacefully.

“Then suddenly the United States and some local elements started attacking Taliban houses and their villages and forcing the Taliban to flee the country,” Karzai said.
Acknowledging that the United States forced the Taliban to continue the war, the former Afghan President continued: “It was violence against the Afghan people in the name of fighting the Taliban that led me to call the Taliban our brothers, because they also belong to our country.” And they are our compatriots.

Referring to the concerns of countries in the region about the spread of insecurity in Afghanistan, he said that after the establishment of peace and the establishment of a central government that will rule the entire territory of the country, these threats will also disappear.

Karzai believes that with the complete withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the only way forward is to talk to the Taliban, even if their terrorist activities cannot be forgotten.
