Insufficient Access to Safe Drinking Water Persists Among Afghan Citizens

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has undertaken a significant initiative in Herat province, where it has constructed twenty water tankers designed to supply clean drinking water to over 10,000 individuals.

According to the Afghanistan division of this organization, a staggering 79 percent of the Afghan population lacks access to an adequate supply of potable water.

In contrast, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that 25 out of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces are grappling with severe drought conditions. Afghanistan stands among the ten nations adversely impacted by climate change.
