Taliban Minister Asserts Afghanistan’s Independence Amid Tensions with Pakistan

Abdul Latif Mansour, the Taliban’s Minister for Rural Rehabilitation and Development, stated that Afghanistan will never allow any country to impose its dominance and called for independent relations with Pakistan. These remarks come amid rising tensions between the two nations.

The Taliban Minister: Afghanistan Will Never Fall Under Foreign Domination

Abdul Latif Mansour, the Taliban’s Minister for Rural Rehabilitation and Development, stressed Afghanistan’s interest in establishing relations with Pakistan during a speech in Paktia province. However, he firmly asserted that the country will never accept the dominance of another nation, emphasizing that Afghanistan has historically resisted subjugation to any foreign power.

Mansour referenced Afghanistan’s past wars, pointing out that nations that have stood against major powers do not tolerate dependence on other countries. He added that Afghanistan seeks Islamic relations with its neighbors, but should not be expected to act as a subordinate.

Independence and Response to Threats

The Taliban Minister cautioned that if attacks on Afghanistan persist, Pakistan will face a firm and robust response. Mansour also mentioned certain countries that are attempting to undermine Afghanistan’s progress.

These statements emerge at a time when relations between the Taliban and Pakistan are strained due to recent hostilities. Islamabad claims that the Taliban is allowing the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate from Afghan territory, a claim that Kabul has denied.
