Ayeesha Wahab: U.S.-Backed Warlords Have Plundered Afghanistan

Ayeesha Wahab, the new Congresswoman, expressed her discontent with the warlords supported by the United States, stating that instead of serving Afghanistan’s interests, they have plundered the country.

In an interview with “Democracy Now,” Wahab stressed that the U.S. should pursue diplomacy with the Taliban regime. She asserted that regardless of which group holds power, diplomatic ties must be established to foster positive impacts on human rights and women’s rights.

$5 Million Spent to Prevent Wahab’s Victory

The elected representative also highlighted Afghanistan’s geography and resources, noting that the country is surrounded by various nations and that the U.S. should take action to collaborate and sign agreements regarding Afghanistan’s resources.

Wahab pointed out that Afghanistan needs new partners and criticized the U.S. for not effectively utilizing its diplomatic capabilities in this regard. She also mentioned the presence of other warlord groups in Afghanistan seeking to gain power.

Ayeesha Wahab’s Victory and Electoral Challenges

Ayeesha Wahab, a California senator and member of the Democratic Party, recently won a special election to fill the seat of “Eric Swalwell” in the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming the first Afghan-American to enter Congress. This victory came amidst considerable financial opposition, with rival political groups spending millions to impede her success.

According to a report by “Politico,” the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and other related groups allocated over $5 million to thwart Ayeesha Wahab’s election.

Ayeesha Wahab’s Background and Education

Born in 1987 in New York, Ayeesha Wahab’s family immigrated to the U.S. during the Soviet-Afghan war. Tragically, she lost her parents at a young age and was raised by guardians from the age of nine. Wahab has pursued an extensive education, earning a doctoral degree in political science, business administration, and social work.
