Afghan Documentary Sheds Light on US Crimes

Afghan National Television has announced the completion of “Garmsir,” a documentary examining the crimes of American soldiers in Afghanistan.

This project comes in the wake of Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Atiqullah Azizi’s statements regarding efforts to compile and document these crimes.

The initiative gained momentum after the US military, responding to international outcry and compelling evidence presented by media investigations in September 2021, acknowledged a “tragic mistake” in a deadly operation that resulted in the loss of Afghan civilian lives towards the end of August.

The documentary aims to cast a spotlight on the darker aspects of the two-decade-long US military engagement in Afghanistan, challenging the narrative by highlighting instances of war crimes committed by US soldiers, a topic often met with denial or silence from US authorities.
