Taliban: There Is No Threat to Pakistan from Afghan Soil

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Taliban government, emphasized in an interview with Khyber News television network that there is no threat to Pakistan from Afghan soil and that the Taliban government does not permit members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to operate. He added: We seek good relations between the two countries and no group is allowed to use Afghan soil against any country.

Emphasis on Dialogue Instead of Tension

Mujahid, referring to the recent tense relations between Kabul and Islamabad, stated that the Taliban government wants to resolve disputes through dialogue and understanding. He clarified: We are not proponents of war; the root causes of the problems must be identified and resolved through understanding.

Warning About Border Attacks from Pakistan

The Taliban spokesperson, in response to recent Pakistani airstrikes in Paktika province and other areas of Afghanistan, said that women and children have lost their lives in these attacks. He warned that if such actions are repeated, the full responsibility will be on the other side.

Mujahid, in a separate interview with a Pakistani media outlet, clarified that the control and management of water resources is Afghanistan’s legitimate right. He emphasized: Afghanistan, like Pakistan, has the right to construct its dams on its territory and manage its resources.

Meanwhile, Tahir Andarab, spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, expressed hope that the third round of negotiations between the Taliban and Islamabad, which is set to take place in Istanbul, would lead to constructive results.

Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have become significantly tense in recent weeks following several border skirmishes and mutual accusations of harboring armed groups. The two countries are trying to find a way to reduce tensions through dialogue with mediation by Turkey and Qatar.
