Russia Calls for Peaceful Resolution Between Taliban and Pakistan

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, has stated that the country is advocating for the resolution of ongoing disputes between the Taliban and Pakistan. She urged both parties to address tensions solely through political, diplomatic, and peaceful means. Zakharova emphasized that Russia, drawing from past experiences, is ready to participate and mediate in addressing these tensions and promoting sustainable peace in the region…

Global Community’s Shared Concerns

Maria Zakharova expressed serious concern during a recent press conference regarding the escalating tensions between the Taliban’s interim government and the Pakistani state, calling for a political resolution to this conflict.

She stressed that Moscow urges both the Taliban and Pakistan to resolve any existing differences exclusively through political, diplomatic, and peaceful means.

Zakharova further noted that the ongoing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan pose a serious concern not just for Russia but for the entire global community.

Readiness for Mediation

The spokesperson indicated that beyond simply requesting a resolution, Russia is ready to take an active role.

Zakharova stated that Russia is prepared to engage in resolving tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan while promoting sustainable peace in the region: “We have such experience and are ready for it [mediation].”

This proposal comes amid a backdrop of escalating tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over issues such as terrorist attacks, border security, and the expulsion of Afghan refugees, with the third round of negotiations between the two sides ending without a clear outcome. Russia’s stance could open a new path to alleviate security and diplomatic pressures along Pakistan’s eastern borders and Afghanistan’s southern frontiers.
