زاخارووا2 550x295 - Russia Urges Taliban and Pakistan to Resolve Tensions Through Diplomacy

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that the country is calling for the resolution of ongoing disputes between the Taliban and Pakistan and urged both sides to resolve tensions solely through political, diplomatic, and peaceful means. She emphasized that Russia, considering previous experiences, is ready to participate and mediate in resolving these tensions and promoting sustainable peace in the region…

Concerns of the International Community

Maria Zakharova, in her recent press conference, expressed serious concern over the escalation of tensions between the Taliban’s caretaker government and the Pakistani government, calling for a political solution to this dispute.

Zakharova emphasized in her remarks that Moscow urges the Taliban and Pakistan to resolve any existing differences solely through political, diplomatic, and peaceful means.

She added that the ongoing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan are a serious concern not only for Russia but for the entire international community as well.

Announcement of Readiness for Mediation

The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the country’s readiness to play an active role, beyond a simple request.

Zakharova stated that Russia is prepared to mediate to resolve tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan and promote sustainable peace in the region: We have such experience and are ready for it [mediation].

This proposal comes at a time when tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have reached their peak in recent months over issues such as terrorist attacks, border security, and the expulsion of Afghan migrants, with the third round of negotiations between the two sides also ending without a clear outcome. This position from Russia could open a new path for reducing security and diplomatic pressures along Pakistan’s eastern borders and Afghanistan’s southern borders.
