Pakistan Escalates Measures Against Afghan Immigrants Amid Security Concerns

10,000 Rupee Reward in Punjab

In response to the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and ongoing allegations from officials regarding Afghan nationals’ involvement, stringent measures against Afghan immigrants have intensified across various provinces in Pakistan.

According to a report by Pakistani television News 24, the Punjab police have set a cash reward for information regarding Afghan immigrants. Under this initiative, anyone who provides information about undocumented immigrants will receive a reward of 10,000 Pakistani rupees.

Warnings to Landlords in Islamabad

Alongside these actions, several Afghan refugees in Pakistan report that police in the capital have also initiated new measures. The Islamabad police have warned homeowners to evict undocumented refugees and immigrants from their homes. This situation has heightened fear and anxiety within the large Afghan immigrant community in Pakistan.

Identification of the Deadly Attacker by the Government of Pakistan

These measures come in the wake of a bloody attack that occurred outside a court in Islamabad on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to 27 others. A faction of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Pakistani government, in a statement, identified the attacker as Qari Osman Aref, a resident of Nangarhar Province. The statement claimed that the group systematically received guidance from their leaders based in Afghanistan during the execution of the attack.

Pakistan stated that the attacking group is in custody but refrained from disclosing their location. Investigations into the attack are ongoing, and further details and arrests are expected to emerge soon.

Meanwhile, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has not yet issued an official response regarding Pakistan’s claims of organizing and directing the attack from within its territory.
