Human Rights Watch announced that the Turkish authorities deported hundreds of Syrian refugees from February to July 2022 and forced them to return to Syria in violation of international law.
According to Euronews, the Turkish authorities detained the deported Syrians in their homes, workplaces and streets and forced them to return to northern Syria after signing voluntary return forms.
Human Rights Watch has stated in its report that the deportation operation of Syrian refugees conflicts with Turkey’s record as the country that hosts the most significant number of refugees.
