The World Food Program (WFP) in Afghanistan has requested $650 million in funding to continue its aid efforts.
The WFP reported that, following record levels of hunger in 2021 and 2022, food security in Afghanistan has slightly improved. However, more than a quarter of the population still requires food assistance to survive.
According to the United Nations, 23.7 million people in Afghanistan will need humanitarian aid this year.
