Ariana News Agency: The World Food Organization has called on the international community to continue sending money to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is on the brink of economic collapse, said Mary Ellen McGrotty, head of the program in Afghanistan.
“We do not have enough money for 2022,” McGrotty said. I hope we can take care of 12 million people in January, but still, this is 50% of the number of people facing severe food insecurity today.
The same FDA official called on the international community to help prevent a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan with multibillion-dollar funding.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, more than 22 million people in Afghanistan are severely malnourished and more than 8.5 million are on the brink of starvation.
