United Nations Urges Pakistan to Temporarily Halt Deportation of Afghan Refugees

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Pakistan has urged Islamabad to cease the deportation of refugees during the winter season.

Once again, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Pakistan has called upon the country’s government to halt the forced deportation of Afghan refugees and migrants from Pakistan during the winter season.

Babar Baloch, the spokesperson for this organization, stated that they have requested the Pakistani government not to deport Afghan migrants in the cold season, highlighting that the extreme cold poses a severe threat and may be fatal for those returning.

The organization underscores that the repatriation process should be voluntary, and Pakistan should identify and assist vulnerable migrants in need of international protection.
