A recent study by international organizations has identified Afghanistan as the world’s second most perilous destination for travel and tourism in 2024, following South Sudan, primarily due to extreme security risks.
The International Health and Security Consulting Organization’s research, which assessed countries based on security, climate, and health criteria, ranked Afghanistan as the second most dangerous nation in terms of security.
The report highlights that in Afghanistan, and other similarly ranked countries, there is a significant risk of violent attacks by armed groups targeting tourists and personnel of international organizations. It also notes that government services and transportation systems are largely nonfunctional, and extensive areas of the country remain inaccessible to foreigners.
Furthermore, Afghanistan’s position as the second most hazardous destination for travelers in 2024 is not solely based on security concerns but also encompasses health and climate-related risks..
