UNICEF 550x295 - UNICEF: 10 million Afghan children need immediate help for survival

Ariana News Agency: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says children in Afghanistan are in dire straits and need immediate humanitarian assistance to survive.

About one million Afghan children suffer from malnutrition-related health problems, said Henrietta Faure, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

He also said that another 10 million Afghan children needed urgent humanitarian assistance to get enough food.

On the other hand, 4.2 million Afghan children, including 2.2 million girls, are out of school.

At least 2,000 cases of child abuse have been reported reported in recent conflicts in Afghanistan.

As 435,000 children and women have been displaced inside Afghanistan in recent months, it has warned that the situation of Afghan women and children will worsen in the coming months due to drought, the spread of corona and violence.

UNICEF also said that in light of ongoing developments in the coming months, the need for Afghan women and children for immediate humanitarian assistance will increase as water shortages and intensifying droughts in Afghanistan have devastating economic and social consequences.
