The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has revealed in a recent report that approximately 75% of Afghan girls are currently unable to access education.
According to UNESCO, this concerning trend places Afghanistan alongside certain African nations, significantly lagging in educational opportunities for girls. The report ranks Afghanistan among the top ten countries worldwide with the highest number of girls not attending school.
The restriction on education for Afghan girls beyond the sixth grade, including access to universities, was implemented following the Taliban’s ascent to power in Afghanistan, severely impacting female education in the country.
