Roza Otunbayeva, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has expressed the international community’s growing concerns over the threat of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
Speaking at a UN Security Council session on the situation in Afghanistan, Otunbayeva highlighted that, despite denials by the Taliban, the latest report from the UN sanctions monitoring team underscores ongoing concerns about the presence of terrorist groups within the country.
She further emphasized particular concerns regarding terrorist groups that pose a threat to Afghanistan’s neighboring countries.
