At the beginning of the new academic year, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) called preventing girls from schools and universities a violation of human rights and self-harm.
“In one month, schools and universities across Afghanistan will open their doors to students, but not to girls,” UNAMA tweeted.
UNAMA has once again asked the Taliban to open the gates of schools and universities to Afghan girls and women in order to protect their lives, livelihood and future.
Despite the widespread international opposition, the Taliban have given no green light to cancel the women’s education and work ban.
