Ariana News Agency: The UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism said that concerted action by all countries was needed to combat ISIS in Afghanistan.
“Al-Qaeda continues its terrorist activities and the number of ISIS fighters in Afghanistan has doubled,” said Vladimir Veronkov, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism.
He said at a meeting in Tashkent that coordinated action by countries is needed to confront ISIS in Afghanistan.
The UN official had recently said that the number of ISIL fighters in Afghanistan was 4,000.
After the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, one of the biggest global concerns has been the threat of the spread of terrorism, especially al-Qaeda and ISIS.
