UN Requests Urgent Aid for Flood Victims in Afghanistan

Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Afghanistan, has called for immediate aid to flood victims in the country.

Bennett wrote on his X page that the recent floods, including those in Baghlan, which claimed many lives, highlight Afghanistan’s vulnerability to the climate crisis.

He added, “Both immediate assistance and long-term planning by the Taliban and domestic actors are needed.”
