The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that it has treated over 273,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition in Afghanistan in the first five months of 2023.
In May alone, UNICEF treated 60,000 children with acute malnutrition; in April, it treated 48,800 children with severe malnutrition.
According to UNICEF, 56% of the children treated are girls.
