The US State Department has issued a statement warning that the US’s killing of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda, may force al-Qaeda supporters to target American facilities or citizens.

The US State Department said: “After al-Zawahiri’s death, supporters of al-Qaeda or its affiliated terrorist organizations may seek to attack US facilities, personnel, or citizens.”

However, the US State Department has announced adopting more measures to curb possible attacks by al-Qaeda.
