The people of Kandahar have called on the United States to release Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves in protest of the US seizure of Afghan assets and its impact on the escalation of the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
Protesters in Kandahar demanded that the United States be held accountable for its damage to the Afghan people. They also demanded that Washington pay compensation to the victims of the 20-year US-led war in Afghanistan.
Protesting the US decision to continue seizing Afghan assets, the protesters stressed that the decision was unacceptable to the Afghan people and called on the United States to reconsider.
After the fall of Kabul last year, the US government seized all of Afghanistan’s assets and foreign exchange reserves under the pretext of the Taliban coming to power.
