The European Union’s Special Office for Afghanistan has announced the release of 140 million euros in essential humanitarian assistance.
This aid will encompass education, healthcare, agriculture, and the economic empowerment of women in Afghanistan.
This decision to release the funds, which had been withheld since December 2022 in response to the Taliban’s ban on women working with NGOs, follows six months of monitoring and evaluation, guided by the principle of women’s empowerment, led by women.
The European Union further stated that this assistance will be distributed to deserving individuals through the offices of the United Nations, the World Bank, and international non-governmental organizations operating in Afghanistan.
