The Taliban’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amir Khan Muttaqi, emphasized that despite ongoing threats to Afghanistan, the group remains vigilant against its adversaries.
Speaking at the 44th anniversary commemoration of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan in Kabul, Muttaqi highlighted the significance of the event in educating Afghanistan’s youth about their national history.
In the same gathering, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Interior Affairs, reflected on the aftermath of the Soviet invasion, noting how it fragmented the Afghan nation and led to the displacement of millions.
Additionally, Abdulsalam Hanafi, Deputy to the Taliban’s Prime Minister, reassured in his address that the Taliban has no intentions of retaliating against their political rivals. He recalled assurances given to American officials that the Taliban, upon assuming power, would avoid a bloodbath and extend forgiveness to those who opposed them politically, considering them as brethren.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesperson, also reiterated in a statement marking the occasion, the group’s commitment to non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.
