Taliban: UN Report Confirms Objectivity Regarding Afghanistan’s Economy

The Economic Vice President of the Taliban Deputy Prime Minister commended the World Bank’s recent report on Afghanistan’s economic situation, released on August 31, 2023. He emphasized that the report’s findings and progress indicators represent an impartial assessment presented by the World Bank.

This senior Taliban official further conveyed that a constructive engagement from the international community could lead to the removal of existing restrictions and the unfreezing of Afghanistan’s capital. Under these circumstances, Afghanistan is poised to achieve significant advancements in its economic sector, alongside progress in other areas.

It is noteworthy that the Taliban has formally requested the World Bank to assist in completing ongoing projects initiated by the United Nations in Afghanistan.
