Pakistani media outlets have reported a stalemate in negotiations between Pakistani authorities and the Taliban regarding the reopening of the Torkham border crossing.
The Taliban has issued a warning about the potential permanent closure of two crucial border points, including Torkham, to the government in Islamabad.
A report by a prominent Pakistani newspaper detailed a recent meeting aimed at resolving the impasse over the Torkham crossing. During these discussions, the Taliban cautioned Pakistani officials that a failure to reach a mutual agreement could lead to the indefinite closure of both the Torkham and Kharlachi border crossings.
Sources speaking to Dan newspaper indicated that the Taliban is prepared to cease all dialogues with Islamabad should the Pakistani authorities fail to negotiate a satisfactory agreement.
