Taliban Spokesperson Condemns Confiscation of Afghan Assets

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, has denounced the renewed order to seize Afghan assets, labeling it a cruel act contrary to international principles.

US President Joe Biden has extended the seizure of Afghan assets through a presidential decree.

In a statement attributed to Joe Biden, the White House announced that, in response to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and the associated threats, the presidential order issued on February 11, 2022, will remain in effect beyond February 11, 2024.

Reports indicate that approximately $9 billion from the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan must be released by foreign nations to facilitate the country’s economic stability.
