The Taliban’s Prisons Administration officials have disclosed that there are currently 19,000 inmates incarcerated across Afghanistan.
Habibullah Badr, the Military Deputy of the Prisons Affairs Administration, revealed that this figure includes 800 women who are detained for various crimes throughout the country.
Badr, serving in a key role within the Prisons Affairs Directorate, emphasized that Afghanistan does not operate any private prisons, nor will it permit the establishment of such facilities.
Furthermore, Badr asserted that the prison system in Afghanistan is free from torture, and the wellbeing of prisoners is maintained, ensuring that they are not subjected to any form of neglect or abandonment.
