Michael McCall, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the United States House of Representatives, has asserted that the Taliban have never severed their connections with Al-Qaeda.
In a statement released by the US House Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. McCall underscored that the Taliban’s actions, including their fight against ISIS, are aimed at preserving their internal authority.
He stated, “The Taliban are collaborating with their Al-Qaeda associates to counter their mutual adversary, the Khorasan branch of the ISIS group, as part of an ongoing power struggle dating back to 2014.”
Mr. McCall further pointed out that the Biden administration has attempted to downplay the “terrorist ties” of the Taliban.
