The Taliban’s foreign minister asserted that Islamabad’s mass deportation of Afghan refugees aligns with the onset of the cold season, a move aimed at exerting pressure on Kabul’s governing body to accede to Pakistan’s demands.
He delineated two objectives behind these pressures, contending that the Afghan government lacks the capacity to address them. Firstly, he cited the issue of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, an internal matter persisting in Kabul prior to the Taliban’s ascension to power. Secondly, he noted Islamabad’s expectation for Kabul to acknowledge the Durand Line as a shared border—a matter extending beyond any government’s control, intricately linked to Afghanistan and its entire populace.
Motaghi emphasized, “These are internal problems of Pakistan. With its robust military and intelligence capabilities, Pakistan should resolve these issues independently, unrelated to Afghanistan.
