The Taliban’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has announced that this Wednesday will be a public holiday across Afghanistan to mark the third anniversary of the victory of the Afghan Jihad against American forces.

For the past two years, the Taliban has observed the anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal as a national holiday.

On August 15, 2021, following the departure of then-President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani from Kabul, Taliban forces entered the capital, ending 20 years of U.S. military presence in Afghanistan.
