The Norwegian Refugee Council has reported that Afghanistan will face a staggering 70% decrease in humanitarian aid funding in 2025. The agency highlighted that the budget allocated for humanitarian assistance has plummeted from $3.3 billion in 2022 to just $1 billion by 2025.

Critical Situation for Those in Need

The report reveals that funding for humanitarian programs has sharply declined in recent years. In 2021, 96% of the required budget was secured, but this figure has dropped to a mere 26% this year.

The Return of Afghans: New Challenges

Since late 2023, over 6 million Afghans have returned from neighboring countries, creating new humanitarian needs. Alarmingly, 73% of these returnees are unemployed.
