Beatrix von Storch, a representative of the Alternative for Germany party, has urged the government to expedite the return of Afghan migrants involved in crimes or whose asylum applications have been denied. In a post on her X account, she stated that if the German military can evacuate local collaborators from Afghanistan, it should also utilize military aircraft to send criminals back to their home country.

Germany’s New Coalition Government Returns 250 Afghan Migrants

Reports indicate that since the formation of the coalition government in April 2025, approximately 250 Afghan migrants have been sent back to Afghanistan. Recently, 22 Afghans convicted of serious crimes were transported back to their homeland on a charter flight.

Despite the acceleration of deportations for Afghan migrants, the number of asylum requests from Afghans in Germany has significantly increased. In the first half of this year, over 39,000 individuals applied for asylum, with more than 47 percent of those applications approved. Afghans have the highest acceptance rate among all nationalities.
