Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health considered the lack of medical clinics for treating drug addicts and easy access to drugs as the main reasons for increasing number of addicted people.
The officials say the matter must be on the government’s first priority to hinder it to be more critical.
The addicts also say there is no motive for treating. Lack of medical clinics and other facilities which led them to spend life in the streets and beneath bridges.
The growing rates of addiction reflect the increased availability of drugs. Afghanistan is the world’s largest opium producer, despite the U.S. spending roughly $8.62 billion on counternarcotics efforts there.
