During a fourth round of multilateral consultations on Afghanistan in Dushanbe, the secretary of the Russian Security Council said that the United States and its allies are the main culprits in the massive damage to Afghanistan and must pay for its reconstruction.
“We are convinced that no matter what the West does on Afghan soil, it has no right to continue its geopolitical games there,” Nicholas Patrushev said.
Also, since the United States and its allies are the leading cause of significant damage in Afghanistan, they must bear the costs of rebuilding this country.
The Russian National Security Council Secretary also noted that the fight against terrorism on Afghan soil is not possible without eliminating its primary sources. One of its sources is the supply of illegal weapons inside and outside the country.
Patrushev also said that the influx of refugees from Afghanistan could increase if the situation in the country continues to deteriorate.
The latest figures from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) show that 3.4 million Afghans are currently displaced.
