Roza Otunbayeva, UN Special Representative and head of the UN’s Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, says that the Taliban cannot confront terrorist groups.
At the Security Council meeting on Afghanistan, Otunbayeva emphasized that: “the Taliban are mostly in control of the country, but they are not able to deal with the terrorist groups inside Afghanistan satisfactorily.”
She said that she is worried about the recent activities of ISIS, the attacks on the embassies of Russia and Pakistan, and the hotel where many Chinese nationals were staying.
