At the Davos World Economic Forum, Pakistani Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar voiced concerns about the sale of military equipment, originally intended for foreign forces in Afghanistan, on the black market.
According to Kakar, this equipment, which was abandoned by NATO and the United States, has been acquired by non-state actors, posing significant challenges for Pakistan.
Highlighting the broader implications of the situation, Kakar stated, “The abandoned military project in Afghanistan has had tangible, detrimental effects, particularly in relation to the equipment provided to the Afghan army.” He further emphasized the potential regional and even Middle Eastern ramifications, predicting significant consequences arising from the misuse of these military assets.
The interim Pakistani government leader’s statements underscore the complexity and potential security threats stemming from the unresolved issues of military equipment left in Afghanistan following NATO’s withdrawal.
