In Pakistan, the Haqqani network has been implicated in recent terrorist attacks, according to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Deputy Inspector General Sohail Khalid. He noted compelling evidence of the Haqqani network’s involvement in these acts of terrorism.
Khalid further reported that approximately 2,500 Pakistani and Afghan militants stand prepared for terrorist operations throughout Pakistan.
Furthermore, Khalid stated that following the withdrawal of foreign forces and the collapse of the Afghan government, a substantial number of fighters have aligned themselves with Pakistani militias. He highlighted that, post the Afghan conflict’s conclusion, numerous Pakistani fighters, previously allied with the Afghan Taliban, have also joined the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Sohail Khalid emphasized that a majority of suicide attacks over the past eight months have been attributed to Afghan terrorists, with this information having received official confirmation.
