Pakistani media has reported that following the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, approximately 600,000 Afghan refugees have entered the country.
According to The Express Tribune, the total number of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan has now exceeded 3.7 million.
It has come to light that 775,000 Afghan refugees are currently residing in Pakistan without legal documentation, despite recent efforts by the Pakistani government to expedite the forced deportation of Afghan refugees.
In a bid to address the issue of illegal Afghan refugees, local law enforcement agencies have gone as far as detaining and subsequently deporting refugees possessing valid residence documents.
