OCHA: Afghanistan has one of the highest levels of explosive ordnance contamination globally

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced in a tweet that Afghanistan is among the countries that have the most explosives-contaminated lands in the world, adding that $18.3 million is needed to clean up these lands.

OCHA expressed concern about this situation, warning that 4.9 million people in Afghanistan are at risk of explosively contaminated lands.
